Abstract

This article conducts a study on how the concept of black performance is being understood within the scope of the National Forum of Black Performance, with the aim of expanding the possibilities and spaces where this debate is being carried out by black people. The National Black Performance Forum is an initiative of the Bando de Teatro Olodum and Cia. dos Comuns and was created with the aim of proposing and demanding concrete actions within the scope of public cultural policies aimed at black Brazilian art. Understanding the voice of this forum in the scenario of performing arts in Brazil, we take a look at the first three editions, aiming at the conceptual approaches on black performance present in the speeches of some of the personalities who participated in this political and artistic movement, but seeking to understand how the Forum itself performs his blackness.
