Approaches between picturebooks, wordless picturebooks and theater:

A study on "As aventuras de Bambolina"

Abstract

In this article, I discuss the typologies: picturebooks and wordless picturebooks, drawing parallels between the works belonging to these categories and theater, primarily through the forms of theatricality commonly present in these types of publications. To exemplify the discussed content, I selected the Brazilian wordles picturebook As Aventuras de Bambolina for this study. This selection also allowed me to identify that the aforementioned publication is linked to the tradition of Brazilian children's and youth dramaturgy in terms of plot and the most current trend to address difficult and/or thorny themes without didacticism, moral lessons and/or paradidactic intentions, further expanding the possibilities of connections between picturebooks, wordless picturebooks and theater. Keywords Picturebooks; Wordless picturebooks; Theater; Theatricality; As aventuras de Bambolina.
