Can the motto “Fire on the racista” fit on the Brazilian flag? :

The child performer in the tension between racism and the school

Authors

Abstract

How do children imagine their country? And what actions would they take to change their reality? Starting from these questions, a pedagogical sequence was developed, blending interventions and performance classes on the materiality of the national flag. By inverting its words and recreating its colors, the students created performances at school. From these experiences, the discussion is expanded to analyze the presence of racism in schools and how these structures undermine the democratic ideal in the school environment. Keywords: Institutional racism; School appearances regime; Performance in school.
